MAIL PILOT 1933 ANIMATOR SERIESThe main iconic image for the series was Mickey Mouse swinging on a rope over a pit of hungry green alligators with their mouths wide open that certainly referenced a sense of impending peril. Its formula inspired other similar films, television commercials, animated cartoons and much more. MAIL PILOT 1933 ANIMATOR MOVIEThe phrase, of course, was meant to reference "The Perils of Pauline", the iconic cliffhanging silent movie serial where the heroine is constantly menaced by a variety of villains and dangers but escaping at the last minute. 6 out of 10 The Extras Special features in the set are spread across discs one and two, and begin with a great interview where Leonard Maltin talks with Disney animators Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnson as they go over old Mickey pencil drawings and talk about their memories about the mouse that started it all.In 1993-1994 the Walt Disney Company launched an extensive branding campaign called "The Perils of Mickey" inspired by vintage Floyd Gottfredson comic strip art and stories from the 1930s. That said, these have been cleaned up pretty well and you'll probably never see these vintage shorts any better than they are on these two discs. The older ones such as Steamboat Willie obviously aren't in the best of shape, but you'd have to expect that especially with something from 1928 and the way the shorts where projected back then. 10 out of 10 The Video When you look at the shorts included in this two-disc set, you need to realize that these are about seventy years old.
